The AI Artwork Image Guide • for painters and mixed media artists

I Tried Every AI Art Tool Out There. Then I Built One That Doesn't Alter My Artwork, And Sells More Art

Over 20 copy-and-paste prompts that clean up your artwork photos and hang your paintings in rooms a collector can picture in her own house. It runs in ChatGPT, so there's no second subscription, and it never touches a brushstroke. I started showing my small work hung together in these rooms, and my small pieces started selling on large bundles.

What it changed for me

How You Style It Changes What She Buys.

I had a collection of small pieces, and for a while they sold the way small pieces usually sell. One here. One there.

Then I started showing them hung TOGETHER. Eight of them on a real wall, in a real room, at the size they actually are.

One collector ordered 24 pieces. Another ordered 8.

I can't prove the pictures did that. But I've never once had someone buy 24 small paintings off a white background photo. The minute she could SEE the grid, she bought the grid.

Collectors can't picture it the way we can. She's looking at a photo on a phone with no idea if that piece is 9 inches or 4 feet. She isn't deciding whether your work is good. She's deciding whether she can see it in her house.

Botanical paintings hung as a staircase gallery wall

My botanicals, all the way up my staircase. Made from phone photos with the prompts in the guide.

Why I made this

I kept handing my artwork photos to AI and asking it to do one small job. Straighten the piece. Fix the gray shadow in the corner. Get rid of the sliver of rug.

Every tool did something else instead. It smoothed my texture. It sharpened my flowers into plastic. It turned my signature into a font. On one of my irises, it added a petal I never painted.

That's not my painting anymore. That's a painting ABOUT my painting.

So I kept going. The art ones, the photo ones, the mockup ones, the ones with a monthly fee that promise a gallery wall in one click. True story, I paid for several of them and I'd like that money back.

What I ended up with is a workflow, not a tool. It cleans up the photo and builds the room, and it leaves every mark where I put it. It runs in ChatGPT. No new subscription, nothing else to buy.

Before the prompt, after the prompt

Same Painting. Every Time.

Nothing on this page was retouched by hand or sent to a photographer. Every one of these came from a photo I took on my studio floor.

Your art stays yours

Is This Cheating?

Only if you use it dishonestly, and I'll show you where that line is.

This guide never touches what's inside your painting. AI handles the photography, the thing a photographer would handle, and then the room, the thing a stylist and a photoshoot would handle.

There's a whole section on presenting mockups honestly. Call it a styled visualization. Never pretend a digital room is a real install. Never make your piece look bigger than it is. I hold that line in my own shop and I teach it the same way.

Collectors want to picture your work in their home. You're just helping them do it.

Small Botanicals. Big Abstracts. The Same Prompts.

Every painting, photo and mockup on this page is mine, made in ChatGPT with the exact prompts in this guide.

What changes

What Happens When Your Photos Finally Look Like Your Work

01

Sell more art.

When she can picture it over her console, she's a whole lot closer to yes. That's the photo's job.

02

Raise the value of your brand.

Styled rooms show your work in the kind of homes it belongs in. Collectors judge the price by what they see.

03

Save time.

No photographer to book and no staging a room in your house. One phone photo, a few prompts, done.

04

Save energy.

Stop arguing with AI to leave your painting alone. The prompts do the arguing for you.

05

A professional display for every piece.

Clean, straight, true-to-color images for your whole shop, including the small pieces you never got around to shooting.

06

Answer "how big is it?" before she asks.

True-to-size mockups show scale at a glance, so a 12 by 9 reads like a 12 by 9.

07

Sell the collection, one wall at a time.

Gallery walls and grids let her see the set, and buy the set. That's how one collector ordered 24 pieces.

08

Weeks of content from one painting.

One clean master becomes a feed post, a Story, a website banner, a shop listing and an email header.

09

No new app to pay for.

It runs in ChatGPT. No mockup software, no extra monthly fee, nothing else to learn.

Results vary by individual and aren't guaranteed.

How it works

Three Steps. One Painting at a Time.

1
Step One

Shoot It Right.

Your phone is fine. Soft light, camera parallel, a little border around the edges. Five minutes.

2
Step Two

Clean It and Lock It.

Paste the master cleanup prompt, fill in your dimensions, compare, correct, save your clean master.

3
Step Three

Hang It Anywhere.

Paste the mockup prompt, describe the room you want, and pick your ratio for Instagram, Stories, your website banner or your shop listing.

Will Collectors Think It's Fake?

Not if you use it the way I teach it.

This guide never touches what's inside your painting. AI only fixes the photography and builds the room around the work.

There's a whole section on presenting mockups honestly.

Call it a styled visualization. Never pretend a digital room is a real install. Never make your piece look bigger than it is.

In case we haven't met

I Used to Shoot My Paintings on the Floor Too. I Still Do.

I'm a self-taught artist who left a PR career to paint. Brick by brick, I've sold over $2 million in original art.

And for years my product photos were the weakest part of my business. I didn't have a photographer. I didn't have a styled room sitting around. I had a phone and a studio floor.

So I wrote down the whole workflow, so you don't have to spend months fighting AI to leave your painting alone.

The honest answers

You're Probably Wondering

Are the rooms in your mockups real? My home isn't decorated like that.
The rooms are created by AI. You describe the room you want, like a blue and white living room, a cozy kitchen or a gallery wall up a staircase, and ChatGPT builds it around your painting. Your own home never has to be in the picture. All you need is a good phone photo of your art, and the guide shows you exactly how to take one.
Which AI tool do I need?
I use ChatGPT for every image in this guide and on this page. The prompts are written in plain English, so if you can type into ChatGPT, you're set.
I'm not techy. Can I do this?
If you can copy, paste and type your painting's dimensions, you can do this. Every prompt has blanks in [BRACKETS] to fill in.
Does it work for textured or thick paint?
Yes. There's a specific shooting method for textured pieces, and a fix prompt for when AI flattens your texture.
Is this AI art?
No. Your painting stays exactly as you painted it. AI handles the photo cleanup and the room.
Is it a subscription?
No. One payment, instant access, yours to keep.
I'm in The Artists' Collective. Do I get a discount?
Yes. Members get 50% off. Your member discount has been emailed to you.
